An employee said the car was removed yesterday and the front porch area is being temporarily supported until a structural engineer assesses the damage Tuesday morning.

Around 1:10 p.m. Monday, a man suffering from a medical emergency lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of South Meadow Street and West Green Street and slammed into the building at 118 S. Meadow St.

The man was extracted form the vehicle with the jaws of life and airlifted to a regional trauma center. His condition is currently unknown, but witnesses say the man was conscious and speaking to EMS personnel at the scene.

Billy Reilly, a mason and salesman at the store, said the front entrance will remain closed until repairs can be made. Aside from the building, no items inside the store were damaged and the two people in the building  were uninjured.

“We’re just hoping the driver is okay,” Reilly said.
