ITHACA, NY – If you’ve been afraid to leave Ithaca because you don’t want to miss out The Piggery‘s tasty pork products, worry no more.

In January, co-owner Heather Sandford launched a Shopify page for the business, allowing them to deliver an order of fresh meat to most places on the east coast and as far west as Illinois within 48 hours.

Sandford, and this new element of the operation which she is heading up, were recently highlighted in a story for business site Forbes.com.

The article says that Sandford is expecting sales in between $2.5 and $2.75 million this year, making it among the highest-revenue pig farms in the country.

It’s especially notable as a woman-operated farm business (Sandford co-owns The Piggery with her husband, Brad Marshall), as those tend to be smaller in scope and sales.

Despite the success, The Piggery is still running on slim margins — but its continuing popularity, the new online sales pipeline and maybe a little boost from New York State, the future looks bright.
