ITHACA, NY – Comet Skateboards would like to invite the entire community to the 5th annual Ithaca Skate Jam on Saturday May 7, 2016.
The past four years we’ve taken over an iconic hill in Ithaca and turned it into a downhill skate park for everyone to enjoy. Last year we had 300 skaters from all over the western hemisphere take over Buffalo Street.
This year we are doing it again at the same spot East Buffalo Street between Eddy and Stewart Aves. With fresh pavement at a consistent 15% grade and a new location for skate park terrain on Quarry Street (running perpendicular to Buffalo street), we are planning for an epic day of skating, hanging with friends and winning some cool prizes.
Registration is now open at store.cometskateboards.com.
The format will be similar to last year with a “nontest” style jam. Skate hard all day and we’ll give out prizes however the Comet team sees fit. There are no specific contests or divisions.
However, this year there will be a session for younger skaters from 12 – 1 PM. This year we are sponsoring 20 young people ages 14 and under to skate at this time with the generous support of a local foundation –TBJ.
The hill starts at Eddy Street and is a 15% downhill to Stewart Ave. There will be some ramps on Buffalo Street to hit as you go down or you can just bomb away. Quarry Street will have several features until terminating at our food truck and vendor area.

This year the list of special guests is long and filled with rippers. We’re bringing out the entire Comet team including: Brian Peck, Nick Ronzani, Big Dave, Eric Jensen, McLovin, Jared Henry, Nick Ketner, Dustin Hampton, Jeff McDonough, and innovators from other teams and other surprise guests to skate with everyone. Emcee Mike Judah will be on the microphone all day to keep the roots music flowing as well.
Title Sponsors this year will be Comet Skateboards and Guayaki Beverages with Media Sponsor Wheelbase Magazine.
