Cornell University Police have charged Damien Blackman, 36, of Ithaca, N.Y., with drug possession following a traffic stop in the 900 block of Mitchell Street in the Town of Ithaca.

At 12:06 a.m. on June 6, a Cornell University Police officer stopped a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign.

Following a consent search of the vehicle, officers seized over one ounce of heroin, onehalf-ounce of crack cocaine, a quantity of powdered cocaine, marijuana and prescription medications from Blackman’s backpack. Cornell University Police also seized scales, packaging material and more than $6,600 in cash.

Blackman was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third-degree with intent to sell, a Class B felony, and was arraigned in Town of Ithaca Court this morning.

Blackman was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail on $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled in Town of Ithaca Court at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2016.
