Ithaca Children’s Garden (ICG) invites children, families, and people of all ages to celebrate our 5th International Mud Day in ICG’s Hands-on-Nature Anarchy Zone on Saturday, June 25, from 1-4pm. Fun muddy times are expected with mud slides, mud pools, mud pies, and more.
Started in 2008 in Nepal and Australia, today International Mud Day is celebrated by thousands of children in dozens of countries worldwide as a chance to celebrate nature and play by getting muddy.
Mud Day is an opportunity for parents and caregivers to build community through play and say yes to getting dirty – followed by getting clean again at the wash-off station. There will be a range of areas for both active, full-body mud play and quiet mud pie play, as well as the rest of the garden for everyone to enjoy when they are not in the mud.
Mud Day celebrations will take place from 1 to 4pm on Saturday, June 25th. Participants are invited to come at the very beginning if they want to watch firefighters from the Ithaca Fire Department spray down the dirt to create the mud.
Ithaca Children’s Garden is free and open to the public every day; participants in International Mud Day will be asked to make an optional donation of $10 per family. Refreshments will be on sale.
