ITHACA, NY – Not only is Ithaca famous for having an inordinately large number of restaurants for its size, we’re also well-known for doing things our own way.

Bite of Ithaca, this city’s answer to restaurant week, allows you to do just that.

From June 27 – July 1, participating restaurants will offer $5 “bites” for lunch and/or dinner.

For five days, all of Ithaca is your tapas bar. We’ve narrowed down five ways you might take this year’s culinary tour.

Read on, and take our poll below: How do you take a Bite of Ithaca?

The Lunch Bunch

You hop between coffee shops for work, or you’ve rounded up your co-workers for a much-needed break.

Either way, you have your eyes on Ithaca Bakery’s “Jammin’ with Ham” sandwich or CTB’s two for $5 pizza bagel special.

The Happy Hour(s)

You sidle out of work as soon as the clock hits 5 p.m. to meet your friends for a quick drink at Taverna Banfi or The Ithaca Ale House.

Next thing you know, it’s 10 p.m. and you’ve plowed through your wine with a side of Banfi’s calamari, mushroom raviolo, and rigatoni butera.

Or you’ve tamped down that pitcher of beer with the aid of the Ale House’s buffalo chicken spring rolls, guacamole brie melt, wings, and crab cakes. Whoops!

The Conquerors

You’ve got The Bite Passport, (available at the Downtown Ithaca Visitor’s Center and participating restaurants), and you are ready to grab something at each place before hopping over to the next one.

You only need to get three stamps and submit your Passport by July 8 to win a chance at a $100 Downtown gift card, but you’re going conquer your way along Restaurant Row like you’re the foodie Daenerys Targaryen of The Commons.

You’ll start at Gateway BBQ for MVP Dogs, Great Gateway Fries and never look back.

Tried and True

You know what you like and you’re sticking to it. You were here for the first Bite of Ithaca, and you’re back for $5 versions of your favorites.

You’ve already tried Red’s Pot of Gold, and in the last year you’ve eaten enough of Atlas Bowl’s “totchos” to feed a small army (maybe Daenerys’?)

Nevertheless, you are going back for more.

After Dinner Delight

Lingering over dessert and digestifs is your modus operandi.

Obviously you’re heading over to Madeline’s, where there is $5 flan and white chocolate semi-freddo from which to choose, or you’ll mosey over to The Heights for espresso and dessert at H Bar.

No matter how you do it, find the full list of eateries and their featured “bites” at www.biteofithaca.com.
