DANBY, — A Danby man allegedly told police that he shot and killed a family dog Tuesday.
Adam C. House, 30, was charged with felony aggravated cruelty to an animal.
Officers said they responded around 5:40 p.m. to a Danby home after receiving a complaint about a missing dog, according to a news release from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials stated, “Upon arrival, deputies found evidence of a physical injury that took place outside the residence. Deputies interviewed a family member of the home who admitted to fatally wounding the family dog with a firearm for an unspecified reason. Deputies later located the dog’s remains at another location in the Town of Danby.”
The Cornell University Veterinary Hospital is conducting a Necropsy report.
House was arraigned in the Town of Danby and remanded to the Tompkins County Public Safety Building in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 insured bond.
