ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca police and firefighters responded to two crashes in the city Wednesday afternoon, and two people were sent to the hospital, a Tompkins County 911 dispatcher said.
The first accident happened at 3:33 p.m. when a red truck smashed into a light pole on North Meadow Street directly near Purity Ice Cream at 700 Cascadilla St.
Ithaca police, Ithaca Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance responded to the scene and one person was taken to a hospital with injuries.
The second crash happened near the intersection of North Albany and West Seneca streets around 3:47 p.m.
Emergency officials also responded to the scene and another person was transported to a hospital in an ambulance with injuries.
Police are still investigating both crashes.
