ITHACA, NY – We still need quite a bit more rain due to the drought. Let’s just hope we don’t get too much of it all at once.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather warning for about a dozen counties in the region, including Tompkins. The warning extends into Wednesday of next week.

Potentially heavy rains are expected on Saturday and Sunday, which they say could lead to localized flash flooding, particularly in areas with poor drainage and urbanized areas.

In addition, the weather service issued a warning about the heat index. It’s expected to reach the 90s on Friday and Saturday, which may pose a risk to heat-sensitive individuals.
