ITHACA, N.Y. — A person has been airlifted to a regional trauma center after first responders were called to a reported drowning near Ithaca’s Cass Park, a police officer said.

Officials were called to a home on the 800 block of Taughannock Boulevard around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday night, an officer at the scene said.

A person was then transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse in a LifeNet helicopter, which took off from an area of Cass Park directly across the soccer fields around 8:40 p.m.

Bangs Ambulance, Ithaca police officers, the Ithaca Fire Department and Tompkins County Sheriff’s deputies all responded to the scene.

The patient’s condition is currently unknown.
