ITHACA, NY – Last summer, the book “The Swap” by Ithaca native and Cornell grad Megan Shull was optioned for a movie. On Friday evening, we’ll be able to see the end result in the form of a Disney channel original film.
Published in August 2014, “The Swap” tells the story of a boy and girl who switch bodies on the first day of middle school and learn how to live as the other. The book has been described as “Freaky Friday” with a twist.
The book was popular both locally and nationally — it was named 2014 best seller at Buffalo Street Books and held the number one place on Amazon.com’s list of Childrens Humorous Literature.
The movie adaptation stars Disney channel regulars Peyton List and Jacob Bertrand. The movie debuts on Friday at 8 p.m. on the Disney Channel.
