The Ithaca Police Department and the Badge of Honor Association cordially invite you to a sign dedication for Ithaca Police Department Officer Levi Spaulding, who died in the line of duty on September 11, 1930.
Officer Spaulding died near the Seneca Street bus stop after pursuing a murder suspect all night. The sign dedication will take place at the Bernie Milton Pavilion on the Ithaca Commons on November 3rd, 2016 promptly at 11am. The sign will be placed adjacent to the East Seneca Street parking garage, as the garage was the site of the Ithaca Police Department at that time and is where Officer Spaulding passed.
Officer Spaulding was the first African American police officer for the city of Ithaca and was a pillar for the southside community. Officer Spaulding was also the first IPD police officer to die in the line of duty.
Please join the Ithaca Police Department and the Badge of Honor Association in a celebration of Officer Spaulding’s life and his ultimate sacrifice to the Ithaca community.
The Badge of Honor Association is a Not-For-Profit organization that exists to honor the men and women in law enforcement who gave the ultimate sacrifice and those who go above and beyond the call of duty. More information regarding BOHA can be found at http://boha.info/
