ENFIELD, N.Y. — Two people have been hospitalized after a “physical altercation” in Enfield Friday night, police said.
Police were called around 5:43 p.m. to a home at 1774 Mecklenburg Road after an initial report to 911 indicated that there had been a stabbing. Lieutenant Dan Donahue, of the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, said he could not confirm that detail.
Donahue said,”Upon arrival, we made contact with one victim who stated that he was assaulted by a person who was not present at the scene.”
The man was transported to a hospital with injuries that are not life threatening.
The other person involved was also found at a home on the 1800 block of Mecklenburg Road and also transported to a hospital for treatment.
The sheriff’s department, state police, Enfield Fire & Rescue and Bangs Ambulance responded to the scene.
Troopers could be seen searching the front of the home with flashlights and are still on scene at 8:15 p.m.
Donahue said it is “too early” to determine exactly what happened at the scene or if there will be any arrests. But he said police are talking to at least one person who might have witnessed the incident. Other people who live at the home, at least half a dozen, were reportedly not at the home when the fight happened.
