ITHACA. N.Y. — A former corrections officer is being charged with raping a female inmate at the Tompkins County Jail, court record state.
Michael Baker, 25, of Lansing, is charged with felonies for third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sexual act, police said in a news release Tuesday.
According to the court documents, both incidents involved the same inmate and happened on Nov. 11 in her cell on H block.
Baker allegedly received oral sex from the woman and has sexual intercourse with her. As an incarcerated person, the woman is not capable of giving legal consent to those actions.
The documents state that there are three supporting depositions — including one from the woman involved — and that Baker allegedly gave officials “oral admissions.”
He was initially remanded to jail on $3,000 cash bail or $6,000 bond, and a jail official said Wednesday afternoon that Baker is no longer in custody.
Baker is scheduled to appear at noon Thursday at the Lansing Town Court for a felony preliminary hearing.
