ITHACA, N.Y. — Hundreds of people turned out for the annual Santa and elves rappel from the Center Ithaca building Saturday afternoon.

Dancers, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and magicians greeted attendees who watched the Ithaca Police Department SWAT team, clad in red and green elf costumes, rappel down the building. The star of the show, of course, was Santa Claus, who made it nearly to the ground before snagging his beard in the rope and rigging.

But Santa and elves bounced back, taking photos with children and doing crafts with children in Center Ithaca afterward.

Miss the excitement?Check out these photos by our 14-year-old intern Sam Scott, who was there to catch all the action!
