ITHACA, N.Y. — Another discussion revolving around Ithaca’s community read of “The New Jim Crow” by Michelle Alexander is happening Monday night.

The nationally renowned book explores the complex inequities of people of color, specifically black or African American males, in the criminal justice system and how those inequities impact every facet of communities of color.

Today, February 13th, Civic Ensemble and ReEntry Theater are hosting the New Jim Crow Community Read February event from 5:30pm – 7:00pm at the Beverly J. Martin Gym. This month’s theme is “Make America Safe Again,” and corresponds with Chapter 5 of The New Jim Crow. As always, you do not need to have read the chapter to attend the event.
