The following is a republished press release from the Ithaca Fire Department and NOT written by The Ithaca Voice. To submit community announcements directly to The Voice, email tips@ithacavoice.com.

The Ithaca Fire Department asks residents to adopt the fire hydrants near their businesses and homes, and remove any snow from the area around them.

In the event of a fire, time spent by firefighters removing the piled up snow around a fire hydrant may cause a delay in firefighting operations.

Many community members have adopted a hydrant in the past, and the Ithaca Fire Department acknowledges and thanks them for their community service. If you haven’t already, join us this year by adopting your nearest hydrant.

It’s one of the many things that makes Ithaca a great and safe place to live!
