ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca firefighters responded to a small fire on Cornell University’s campus around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
First responders included Ithaca Fire Department, Cornell Police and Cornell Heath and Safety. At least 12 vehicles responded to the scene at Weill Hall, a building primarily used to hold biology classes at the university.
Assistant Fire Chief Dan Tier said first responders were unsure exactly what had caused the fire, but said it had been contained to a hood system in one of the labs in the building. Tier said the fire caused no injuries and was extinguished by 1 p.m.
Weill Hall was fully evacuated after fire alarms were set off around 12:30 p.m. but police said they were working on moving students and faculty back into the building by 1:15 p.m.
