Use caution when traveling: Update: Tompkins sheriff lifts road closure
Sheriff Ken Lansing has lifted the closure of Tompkins County roads, effective as of 6 a.m. Wednesday. Tompkins County offices will also reopen at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The City of Ithaca reminds people to adhere to odd/even parking regulations, shovel sidewalks, curb cuts and keep streets clear for snow removal crews. While people begin digging out of the storm, the Ithaca Fire Department asks that people check on their family and neighbors. Vent pipes and flues should also be cleared of snow so heating appliances can breathe properly and carbon monoxide does not build up. The IFD also asks that people dig out the fire hydrants near their homes or businesses.
The City of Ithaca has extended free parking in the Dryden Road, Seneca Street and Green Street parking garages Wednesday night. All vehicles must be removed by 9 a.m. Thursday to avoid charges.
