ITHACA, N.Y. — In the 200 block of S Geneva Street at approximately 12:10 pm an 88-year-woman was walking home from church, when someone grabbed her purse from behind. The 88-year-old woman struggled with her attacker, the attacker pushed her to ground. The strap to the purse breaks and the attacker takes the purse, jumps into a vehicle and flees the area. The vehicle was last seen driving north on S Geneva St turning left onto W Green St, driving the wrong way on a one way.
Witnesses of the incident rushed to the aid of the elderly woman on the ground. An officer who happened upon the scene sees the elderly woman on the ground with people around her, he stops to assist. The officer quickly learns of the robbery and dispatches the suspect and suspect vehicle information to other officers. Officers responded to the vicinity but were unable to locate the vehicle.
Suspects:
- Black female, heavy set possibly in her 30’s last seen wearing light color clothing.
- Black male driving the suspect vehicle from the scene, no other description at this time.
Suspect vehicle:
A small sedan or SUV, gray or white in color.
