ITHACA, N.Y. — Thousands of yellow rubber ducks plunged down Cascadilla Falls and bobbed along Cascadilla Creek in the 17th annual 4-H Duck Race.

Hundreds of onlookers crowded along the Cascadilla Gorge Trail on Sunday to watch 2,211 ducks race down the creek toward the 4-H Cornell Cooperative Extension Tompkins Education Center on Willow Avenue. Up until the event, people could purchase numbered ducks. The owners of the first 50 ducks won a prize. A color splash run also took place before the duck race.

All proceeds went to support 4-H youth programs in Tompkins County.

After the race, people walked down to the Education Center for music, food, games and a compost fair.

The winners of the race will be posted here Monday.
