LANSING, N.Y. — A man is facing multiple charges after police say he tried to rape a teenager in Lansing.

Gary L. Havens,  42, is charged with second-degree attempted rape and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

According to court documents, Havens tried to rape a person less than 15-years-old in the winter of 2011- 2012 or the winter of 2012 -2013, putting the child in “substantial risk or of danger ” for his or her life or health.

Havens is currently in custody at the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of posting $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond.

The New York State Police are investigating the case.
