NEWFIELD, N.Y. — A Newfield man was killed Friday after he lost control of his motorcycle, police said.

Officials responded at 3 p.m. to the area near 1956 West Danby Road after receiving reports of a motorcycle crash. Zane Cotto, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Zone Sgt. Kelly Daley said, “He was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed and lost control around a curve.”

She said he was ejected from his motorcycle and struck a wooden post. He was wearing a helmet but died of his injuries.

Daley said Cotto was the only person on the motorcycle and the crash did not involve any other vehicles.

Bangs Ambulance and NYS police troopers responded to the scene.
