ITHACA, N.Y. — If you want to catch up on the biggest news of the week but don’t have time to search The Ithaca Voice website to find all the stories, now you have a new way to get briefed on the latest local happenings.
A pilot program called “Top 10 stories in 10 minutes” was launched last Friday on The Ithaca Voicecast, a new audio podcast the operates in collaboration with The Ithaca Voice.
The program gives each big news story of the week about a minute of air time so busy listeners can quickly catch up local current events.
The three-month pilot program is slated to run every Friday through the end of August. During that time, the podcast will likely be tweaked and feedback is welcomed about it. Then, we’ll reassess whether The Ithaca Voicecast is something providing value to the community. If it is, we’ll make it a permanent fixture and likely go on to do bigger, better audio projects.
The Voicecast is currently a weekly rundown hosted by Managing Editor Jolene Almendarez. But plans for meatier pieces and guests are in the works.
Follow the new podcast on Facebook for the latest developments with the project: The Ithaca Voicecast.
