Update (4:18 p.m.) — NYSEG is reporting that power has been restored in Tompkins County. No information about what caused the outage has been released yet.
ITHACA, N.Y. — More than 2,700 people are without power in Tompkins County. The most outages are concentrated around Downtown Ithaca.
According to New York State Electric & Gas, 2,782 people are without power as of 2 p.m. in the county. The most outages are on East State Street, East Seneca Street and Valentine Place, according to outage information.
Many business on the Ithaca Commons are without power, as are several restaurants on South Aurora Street. Street lights are out in multiple locations as well, including the lights at Cayuga and State, Buffalo and Tioga and Seneca and North Aurora streets.
NYSEG estimates power will be restored by 4 p.m., according to their outage map. NYSEG said the cause is under investigation and a crew has been assigned to resolve the issue.
At about 2:30 p.m., power had returned to some businesses on the Commons.
