TRUMANSBURG, N.Y. — After Ithaca hosted its first porchfest in Fall Creek in 2007, the idea spread across the country. And now it’s caught on right next door, in the Village of Trumansburg. Trumansburg Porchfest recently released a lineup of over 40 bands playing on the village’s porches from 12 noon until 5pm on Saturday June 17.

Sponsored by the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance and a slew of local businesses, the debut of Trumansburg Porchfest promises an eclectic lineup with something for everyone. The band schedule and an interactive map are posted on the event’s website at www.tburgporchfest.com.

“Our goal is to bring the community together through music,” says one of the Trumansburg Porchfest organizers, Amelia Sauter.  Trumansburg Chamber of Commerce president Nana Monaco adds, “We are really excited! Trumansburg has more restaurants and shops than ever and people can enjoy everything our village has to offer in addition to the music.” Porchfest tshirts will be available to purchase at local shops.

Local businesses will be getting in on the act, too, hosting events on the same day before and after Porchfest. Felicia’s Hive 45 will have a band playing in their beer garden from 10am until 12noon (Mac Benford, Jeff Claus, Judy Hyman, and Sally Freund), and Bob Roberts Calamity and Friends is playing at Silver Line Tap Room that evening.

Trumansburg Porchfest will take place rain or shine. The village officials would like to remind people that parking is not allowed on side streets. Visitors can park in the municipal lot on Elm Street, at the Trumansburg Farmers Market, or on Main Street where permitted.
