ITHACA, N.Y. — A former corrections officer was indicted on Thursday morning on a sexual abuse charge after it was alleged that he had sexual intercourse with an inmate while he was employed at the Tompkins County Jail.
Court records state that Michael B. Baker, 26, was initially charged after he allegedly received oral sex and had intercourse with a woman in her cell on Nov. 11, 2016. Thursday’s indictment stated that Baker “subjected another person to sexual contact who was incapable of consent.” According to New York State law, a person in custody is unable to give legal consent to these actions.
Documents state that Baker allegedly gave “oral admissions” to officials in regards to the incident.
Baker was indicted on a second-degree sexual abuse charge after initially being charged with third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sexual act.
