ITHACA, N.Y. — An Enfield man is facing charges of attempted robbery and harassment after allegedly trying to rob a woman on Ho Plaza at Cornell University.

A woman reported to Cornell University Police that a man tried to engage her in conversation before attempting to take her purse by force at about 8:30 p.m. June 23. However, the man was unsuccessful stealing the purse and fled the area. Cornell police said they located the man shortly after the report.

Police have identified the man as Edrick Acosta Ramos, of Enfield. Ramos was charged with third-degree attempted robbery and second-degree harassment.

The woman was not injured during the incident, police said.

Ramos is due to appear at 9 a.m. July 12 in Ithaca City Court.
