ITHACA, N.Y. — Let the kids — and yourself— get muddy this weekend as International Mud Day returns to Ithaca Children’s Garden.
Dig in, make mud pies and slide around at the annual event, which will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Hands-on-Nature Anarchy Zone at Ithaca Children’s Garden, Rt. 89, Cass Park.
Though the event has become an Ithaca tradition, Mud Day has roots far beyond Ithaca. It began in 2008 in Nepal and Australia as a way for people to connect with nature. Mud Day now takes place all over the world, but the first International Mud Day celebration in the Northeast USA took place in Ithaca Children’s Garden in 2012.

The event is held in conjunction with U.S. Fish and Wildlife and the Tompkins County Tourism Program.
The event is open to the public and there is a suggested donation of $5 per individual and $15 per family. Bring towels, extra clothes and dress accordingly to get messy. The event will take place rain or shine.
