ITHACA, N.Y. – It’s been over 36 hours since the reported shooting at Chuck’s Mobil Mart, and police report they are continuing to search for the suspect.

The Ithaca Police Department reported that officers were on routine patrol in the area of W. State Street. and Fulton Street. in the early morning hours on Thursday when they responded to shots fired around 1:45 a.m.

Officers responded in the direction to shots fired and located one victim of a gunshot wound in the parking lot of Chuck’s on 540 W. State Street. Police say they were notified of a second victim who had fled northbound from Chuck’s to the Fastrac Markets at 214 N. Meadow Street. At least five witnesses reported that they heard multiple shots fired.

At least five witnesses reported that they heard multiple shots fired. One witness reported he was parked at Fastrac when he heard the gunshots, thinking they were fireworks. Seconds later, he said he saw a man run into the gas station with blood streaming from his chest, who then collapsed outside the building in front of a wood pile.

Police say both victims are expected to survive their injuries.

IPD is still investigating the incident, and are continuing to search for a suspect. No arrests have been made. Police say the suspect has been described as a light-skinned black male, approximately 5’10” and was last seen wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt and jeans. Reports say he was last seen running eastbound in the 500 block of W. State Street.
