DRYDEN, N.Y. – A Dryden man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly used a baseball bat to threaten a woman during a domestic dispute.

New York State Police arrested Alexander J. Hale after they received complaints of a dispute at a residence on Sheldon Road in the Town of Dryden at approximately 4 a.m.

Police say Hale brandished a black and red baseball bat while verbally assaulting the complainant with death threats. While the woman was in her car, Hale allegedly struck the car she was operating with the bat, hitting the hood of the vehicle and the rear driver side of the car.

Hale also cut phone wires to prevent the woman from making any calls during the dispute, according to police.

Court documents say that police found upon inquiry that Hale has multiple past criminal convictions, including a recent conviction of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Hale was charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree menacing and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
