ITHACA, N.Y. — The Ithaca Police Department is investigating a report of shots fired on the South Side of Ithaca Monday night.
A Tompkins County 911 dispatcher said police were called around 9 p.m. to the area of West Green and Fayette streets. About an hour later, police had South Plain Street shutdown for a block between West State and West Green streets.
Officers at the scene were taking photos of the area and appeared to be taking photos of a dark colored pickup truck and possibly a home.
The dispatcher said an ambulance was not requested at the scene and nobody was treated for injuries.
Several people who requested not to be named said they heard several gunshots while standing outside a nearby property on South Plain Street.
Officers at the scene were not authorized to make statements about the incident, and a request for comment from IPD was not returned by publication time.
This is a developing story.
