ITHACA, N.Y. – A man pleaded guilty on Monday afternoon in Tompkins County Court on charges related to a drug investigation in Enfield earlier this year.
Carl L. Williams, 31, was taken into custody on April 3 after police executed a search warrant at his home at 1718 Mecklenburg Road in Enfield just after 5 a.m. Upon searching the residence, police reported finding heroin, a sawed off handgun and items indicative of the sale of narcotics in the defendants home.
Williams was subsequently charged with felonies, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and the criminal possession of a firearm. He has been incarcerated since his arrest in April at the Tompkins County Jail.
“The given circumstances, with the money, the scales and the packaging supplies suggest that you intended to sell (the narcotics),” Judge John C. Rowley said during Williams’ appearance on Monday. “There was also an allegation that you had a shotgun with an altered barrel.”
Williams, represented by Attorney Edward Goehler, admitted to possessing narcotics and an illegal firearm and pleaded guilty to both charges related to the arrest; third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and the criminal possession of a firearm.
Williams’ sentencing is scheduled for August 16 at 3 p.m. at Tompkins County Court.
