ITHACA, N.Y. — On August 24th 2017 the Ithaca Police Department responded to a call regarding suspicious circumstances. It was reported that a young male was making contact with citizens in the Ithaca area and asking for donations for the Ithaca High School basketball team trip to Orlando Florida.

Upon further investigation it was discovered that there is no active fundraising by the Ithaca High School basketball team for a trip to Florida. The Ithaca Police Department is advising citizens to be aware and not to donate to this cause if approached.

The Ithaca Police Department is also asking that citizens who are approached and asked to donate for this cause contact police with any information that could result in the apprehension of the individual asking for the donations.
