ITHACA, N.Y. — Summer is not over yet. New York is extending the swimming season at 13 state parks this summer by two weeks, including Robert H. Treman State Park in Ithaca.

Though Labor Day Weekend is usually the last chance for swimming, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday that popular swim spots across New York will stay open until Sept. 17.

Robert H. Treman State Park will be open extra hours from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9, 10, 16 and 17.

Other local state parks will also be open for swimming Labor Day Weekend, including Taughannock Falls State Park and Buttermilk Falls. However, they are not included on the extended season list.

The extension is part of the NY Parks 2020 Program, which has provided free day-use park entry to fourth grade students and their families, grants to public schools for field trips to state parks and historic sites and free swim lessons at 27 state parks.
