ITHACA, N.Y. – The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Ithaca man on Tuesday after it was alleged he was in possession of stolen items from a person’s vehicle.

Officers stopped Marchant D. Jolles, 24, when they observed him walking on North Triphammer Road in Lansing just before 5 a.m. According to police reports, Jolles was carrying an unidentified object under his arm.

Jolles was found carrying an electronic device which police say was removed from a vehicle parked at a residence in Lansing. Owners later confirmed that the device had been stolen.

Jolles was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was arraigned in the Village of Cayuga Heights Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $500 dollar bail. The Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate the situation.
