ITHACA, NY (September 1-3, 2017) – A team of eight brothers from Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at Cornell University successfully took turns bouncing in an inflatable bouncy castle on the Arts Quad of Cornell University starting Friday, September 1 at 6:00 p.m. to break the Guinness World Record for Longest Marathon on a Bouncy Castle (team).

The previous record of 43 hours, 25 minutes and 1 second was broken at 1:25:02PM on Sunday, and the brothers of Beta Theta Pi bounced until 8:00 p.m. to set the new record at an even 50 hours which concluded the event called “Betas Bounce Against Sexual Violence.”

Brothers abided by the record rules which required:
• At least one member of the team must be bouncing at all times
• No member may bounce for more than four hours at one time
• Timekeepers and witnesses must observe the enitre of the event
• The entire event will be videotaped

Hundreds of community members bounced alongside the record-breaking brothers for a small fee which was donated to the Advocacy Center which combats sexual violence and abuse. The event raised over $500, and donations are still being accepted at @CornellBeta on Venmo.

Beta Theta Pi is one of North America’s oldest social fraternities with over 130 chapters and colonies. The Beta Delta Chapter at Cornell University has been in continuous operation since 1879 and holds the Guinness World Record for Longest Marathon in a Bouncy Castle (team).
