TRUMANSBURG, N.Y. — The Trumansburg High School girl’s soccer team was forced to evacuate a school bus after it caught fire and was quickly engulfed in flames.
The bus was taking the varsity and modified girl’s soccer teams to a game at Marathon Central School District when the fire broke out some time around 6 p.m.
According to a news release from Trumansburg High School, Tom Major, a retired physical education teacher and athletic director, was driving the bus. He was able to safely evacuate the teams off the vehicle and no injuries were reported.
It’s unclear how the fire began.
