GROTON, N.Y. — A Groton man pleaded not guilty to felony child pornography charges in court Wednesday afternoon and will remain released on his own recognizance for now.
Chadd M. Carr, 37, has been indicted and charged with five counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child. He is also a sex offender who was convicted of having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl in 2001.
According to accusatory documents, Carr was taken into custody just after 10 a.m. on Sept. 16 after a woman who knew him told police that he had child pornography hidden in his home. According to her voluntary statement, the woman said Carr had a burned DVD hidden underneath his video games with images of children alone and in bed with adults. The woman said she thought the children in the images were no more than eight years old.
