ITHACA, N.Y. – An injured man was flown out of Ithaca in a helicopter on Thursday afternoon after he was found with an injury to the head.

Members of Ithaca Dispatch said the call came in just after 1 p.m. reporting that a man had fallen near the laundromat on South Cayuga Street. While witnesses could not confirm, Ithaca Firefighters said it appeared he fell from his porch and landed on the sidewalk.

Upon arriving at the scene, members of the Ithaca Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance found neighbors taking care of the man on the sidewalk, reporting that he was ‘bleeding severely from the head.’

Firefighters said paramedics took over the care of the man while a fire crew set up a landing zone at Titus Flats. A Guthrie Air helicopter landed shortly after and flew the man to Robert Packer Hospital to treat his injuries.
