ITHACA, N.Y. – The Southern Tier American Red Cross is calling for all nominations of local heroes in order to recognize them at the 9th Annual Real Heroes Breakfast.
The breakfast was inspired by the desire to honor individuals who show courage, dedication and unselfish character within their community. The Red Cross is asking for community members to submit nominations for individuals who embody the traits of a hero.
If you’re having trouble trying to pinpoint exactly who may qualify as a hometown hero, The Red Cross has put together some ‘Hero Categories.’ The following are some of the categories they offer: blood donor, education, animal rescue, fire rescue, good neighbor, good samaritan adult (21+), good samaritan youth (20 and younger), law enforcement, lifeline, medical, military, and workplace safety.
Those who are nominated must have shown the given acts of heroism between January 1, 2017 and February 6, 2018.
The deadline for submission is February 16, 2018, and the breakfast will take place on May 10, 2018 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Binghamton.
