ITHACA, N.Y. — Nothing Nowhere, a new pop-up craft shop selling locally made items, recently opened in Press Bay Alley and will be there throughout the holiday season.
The quaint, little shop, temporarily located in the Boxy Bikes’ spot, is Caleb Harrington’s creation and features handcrafted items such as pottery and other housewares, high-end knitwear, leather wallets, and wool accessories.
Most of the items are made locally by the highly skillful members of the Ithaca Generator, the community’s high tech workshop for engineers, artisans, and other creatives, says Harrington, a 22-year-old Corning resident who’s met many of Ithaca Generator’s members while working in Ithaca.
“I sell products that I like from people who I like and respect, and my shop design is somewhere between an art gallery and housewares store,” says Harrington.
Nothing Nowhere carries a collection of Katy Stringer’s hand-carved wooden spoons, some lovely cast porcelain cups created by Sarah Cherin, and Owen Mann’s beautiful ceramic flowers.
“I like these things because good people made them and because I want to own things that are unique. I like these things because some of them are just straight up funky,” says Harrington.
Nothing Nowhere will be open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursday, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. You can find out more by emailing Harrington at charringtonillustration@gmail.
