ITHACA, N.Y. — Early Tuesday, the Ithaca SWAT team served two search warrants at residences in Ithaca. Police say they have arrested one man after finding crack cocaine, thousands in cash, a rifle and packaging materials.
Police have charged 26-year-old Jonathon Sanchez, of Ithaca, with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. One count is a Class A-II felony and the other is a Class B felony. Sanchez was also charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
On Tuesday, the Ithaca SWAT team served a search warrant at a residence on the 200 block of East Falls Street and another on the 200 block of Linn Street in Ithaca. Police say they found the target of their narcotics investigation, Sanchez, in one residence along with 4.5 ounces of crack cocaine, $12,000 in cash, a .22 calibre rifle, packaging materials and scales.
Sanchez was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Ithaca City Court where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail without bail. Sanchez is due back in Ithaca City Court at 1:30 p.m. Friday for a preliminary hearing.
