SENECA FALLS, N.Y. — Thousands of people took to the streets of Seneca Falls on Saturday for the 2018 Women’s March.

The first Women’s March last year drew millions across the country after Donald Trump’s inauguration. Activists again filled city streets this year, drawing attention to women’s rights issues and many others. Seneca Falls was a nearby choice for many locals to travel since no women’s march was planned in Ithaca this year, but its historical significance as the birthplace of women’s rights also made it an ideal location.

Marchers on Saturday gathered at the Women’s Rights National Historical Park to hear speeches. The rally covered a wide range of issues such as ending systemic racism and sexism and LGBTQ, immigrant and disability rights.

As they marched, women and men carried signs about women’s equality, calling out hate and remembering the trailblazers who fought for women’s rights.

Organizers of the Seneca Falls rally said the event was meant to remind government officials that women’s rights activists are persisting.
