ITHACA, N.Y. â€” An Ithaca bicyclist was ticketed after police determined that a crash last week was caused when the bicyclist ran a stop sign, police said.

Officers were called to the intersection of Third and Madison streets Thursday morning after a report that a bicyclist and city truck were involved in a crash. The bicyclist was transported to a hospital in a Bangs Ambulance with injuries that are not life threatening.

Ithaca police crash team investigators were at the scene for hours reconstructing the incident and determining what caused the crash.

IPD Sgt. Barry Banfield said the person ticketed is a 45-year-old Ithaca resident but refused to disclose the person’s name. The Ithaca Voice had requested that detail per the freedom of information law.
