ITHACA, N.Y. — Democratic candidates for the 23rd Congressional District will be discussing how to beat Tom Reed this election during a moderated round table discussion Monday. A straw poll will follow.

The event will start at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the State Theatre on West State Street in Ithaca. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The discussion will be moderated by former WHCU News Director and County Board Chair Barbara Mink. According to a news release, candidates will respond to questions “designed to focus on the issues leading to the Democratic victory in November.”

The event is co-sponsored by the Tompkins County Democratic Committee, the Tompkins County Progressives, IBEW Local 241, the Reedjectors and the local chapter of Indivisible.

The round table is open to all registered democrats in the 23rd Congressional District, but ballots for the straw poll will only be distributed to Democrats registered in Tompkins County.

For anyone who cannot attend Monday, The Ithaca Voice will be recording the event. A full, unedited video of the event will be posted The Ithaca Voice Facebook and YouTube channel on Tuesday.

Results will be released Tuesday. Results of the poll do not represent an endorsement by any of the cosponsors.
