ITHACA, N.Y. – A Dryden man was arrested early Friday morning after a warrant led police to find cocaine and other paraphernalia in his possession.
The Ithaca SWAT Team responded to the 100 block of Sapsucker Woods Road in the Town of Dryden around 5 a.m. to serve a search warrant. Officers recovered approximately 1.5 ounces of cocaine and nearly $7,000 dollars in cash at the residence, along with scales commonly used to measure and weigh drugs, police say.
Following the search, police arrested Lucas Monroe, 31, a resident at the address.
Monroe is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony.
“Today’s arrest was the result of outstanding police work and great teamwork by the Ithaca Police Department and the Tompkins County Sheriffs Department,” Ithaca’s Chief of Police Pete Tyler said in a press release. “I am proud of the efforts of the investigators and officers involved in this investigation and warrant service. Narcotics investigations often lead to multiple jurisdictions, and the working relationships shared by IPD, TCSD and so many other police departments in the area often play a vital role in these investigations leading to successful conclusions. Great job by everyone involved today.”
Monroe was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
