ITHACA, N.Y. – Two individuals were arrested in Ithaca on Wednesday after an investigation led police to find cocaine and other drug-related paraphernalia.
Maleek L. Miller, 32, and Kaitlin E. Smith, 35, both from Ithaca, were arrested as a result of the investigation. Police say the arrests were made as a result of a four-month-long investigation between multiple law enforcement agencies in Tompkins County.
According to a press release, the investigation came to a close on State Route 79, where police seized approximately 4 ounces of cocaine, a digital scale, cell phones and $1600 dollars in cash.
Both Miller and Smith were arrested for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony. The two were also charged with second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, and Smith was additionally charged with second-degree criminal impersonation and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.
Miller and Smith were both arraigned in the Town of Ithaca Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail. Miller is currently being held on no bail and Smith is being held on a $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bond.
The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and the Ithaca Police Department assisted with the investigation.
