ITHACA, N.Y. — Snow has been coming down all day, accumulating several inches in Tompkins County so far.
Due to the inclement weather, some schools are closing early or canceling after-school activities and businesses are closing early.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Ithaca and Tompkins County. Heavy snow with accumulations of six to 12 inches are expected. Localized amounts may be as high as 15 inches. The warning is in effect until 5 a.m. Thursday.
Travel may be difficult at times. The heaviest snowfall is expected Wednesday afternoon and early evening.
SCHOOLS
Dryden School District — Closed.
Groton School District — Junior and senior high school closing at 1 p.m., elementary school at 1:15 p.m.
Ithaca City School District — All ICSD-sponsored after-school and evening activities are canceled. There will be no late bus transportation.
Lansing School District — All after-school activities canceled. Childcare parents are asked to pick up as soon as possible.
Tompkins Cortland Community College — Closing early at 1 p.m. The Pathways Scholarship Reception has been canceled.
Trumansburg School District — Closed.
OTHER
Tompkins County Public Library — Closing at 3 p.m.
