ITHACA, N.Y. — Several schools had delayed openings or are closed for the day and the weather is expected to get worse all day with a winter storm warning in effect until Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, Ithaca could see about five inches of snow accumulation throughout the evening. Surrounding counties could get 6 – 12 inches of snow.

But it’s not as bad as it was around this time last year when Winter Storm Stella pounded the city with 19 inches of snow, falling about an inch short of breaking the city’s daily snowfall record.

ITHACA, N.Y. — Winter Storm Stella hit the area hard on Tuesday. However, despite hazardous road conditions and a slew of closures and cancellations, Ithacans found some creative ways to get around town and make the most of the blizzard.

Skis, sleds, and snowboards were just some of the ways Ithacans navigated the winter conditions. Here are some photos from Tuesday.
